Frequently Asked Questions
How do I add an account?
- Tap the + button
- Scan the QR code provided by your service, or
- Enter the secret key manually
How do I enable cloud sync?
- Go to Settings > Cloud Sync
- Tap Enable
- Create an encryption password (minimum 8 characters)
- Your accounts will sync to iCloud (iOS/Mac) or Google Drive (Android)
Important: Remember your encryption password. It cannot be recovered.
How do I transfer accounts to a new device?
With Cloud Sync enabled:
- Install Tick2 on your new device
- Go to Settings > Cloud Sync
- Tap "Restore from iCloud/Google Drive"
- Enter your encryption password
Without Cloud Sync:
- On your old device, go to Settings > Export
- Scan the QR codes with your new device
Why are my codes different from another app?
Ensure your device's time is set to automatic. 2FA codes are time-based and require accurate time synchronization.
- iOS: Settings > General > Date & Time > Set Automatically
- Android: Settings > System > Date & Time > Automatic
How do I delete an account?
Swipe left on the account and tap the delete button, then confirm.
Is my data secure?
Yes. Your 2FA secrets are stored in an encrypted database on your device. If you enable cloud sync, your data is encrypted with your personal password before upload. We cannot access your data.
How do I enable biometric unlock?
Go to Settings and enable Face ID (iOS) or Biometric (Android).
Troubleshooting
App shows "Tick2 Locked"
Tap the screen and authenticate with Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode.
Cloud sync failed
- Ensure you're signed into iCloud (iOS) or Google (Android)
- Check your internet connection
- Verify you have available cloud storage
QR code won't scan
- Ensure adequate lighting
- Hold the camera steady
- Try importing from your photo gallery instead
